Especially the “old” Mayday Parade. Y’know, when Jayson Lancaster was still in the band and wrote and sang most of their song. Just saying. They’re still great though.

• Alex: *laughs* Well uh, I guess it's just a natural thing to do I think.
• Jack: God gave us a very beautiful naked body so we have to share this to the world.

MANILA, Philippines–Female teenagers turned up in droves, dozens of them throwing their bras onto the stage in a gesture of adulation over American pop-punk band All Time Low Thursday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“The girls brought extra bras on purpose,” a lady fan told the Inquirer. “They didn’t just take off what they were wearing tonight.”

The throwing of underwear, including panties, was apparently an anticipated sidelight of the band’s concerts; some of the bras had written messages from their owners to the band members.

All Time Low vocalist-rhythm guitarist Alexander Gaskarth looked amazed at the crowd’s wild reception and shouted: “You guys are the f**kin’ s***t!” A young mother, who accompanied her kids to the show, winced in embarrassment upon hearing such profanities which were casually tossed all through the night.

But the fans couldn’t care less. They stood on their chairs to get a better view of their idols, closed their eyes while singing along to the band’s juvenile musings on life and love, and screamed out their feelings in between the songs: “Marry me, Jack!” – referring to All Time Low lead guitarist Jack Barakat, whose microphone stand bore much of the ladies’ undergarments.

All Time Low did not disappoint. The crowd was crazy and so was Alex and the rest. They couldn’t believe that this concert would be as insane as this. Everyone was dancing and singing with them. Plus the fact that All Time Low themselves was stunned to see the huge crowd dancing to the beat and going crazy over them. Alex kept on telling us how fucking crazy we all are. I don’t even remember how many time he and Jack dropped the F bombed. =))

HERE ARE THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CONCERT:

• ALEX VOICE. It was really amazing. So solid and and beautiful. I am so happy to hear him sing live and proved that his voice was really good.

• JALEX DUO. OMG THE BEST! These two are comedic duo. It’s as if we’re in a comedy bar every time alex and jack throw lines at each other.

•“Hey! Hey! Jack’s dick is small! It’s really fucking tiny! I’m not even kidding!” -Alex

“I was supposed to treat you all to Taco Bell, but I won’t anymore” -Jack

“I hope you realize that Alex’s dick is smaller than mine. Rian and Zack have the biggest dicks in the band. Just kidding about Rian.” -Jack

• When jack run like a wild dog to Zack and Zack carried him. OMG THAT WAS HILARIOUS!

 • When Alex was telling Jack that he should shave and that his family will love him more if he shaved and told us to tell him the same and I was like OMG YEAH MAN! I’ve been thinking the same thing! You’re prettier… err… more good looking with clean face… but whatever, I STILL LOVE YOU!!!!

• The speech before Alex sang “Therapy”… excuse me while I go in a corner and cry.

• “We see you guys on Twitter… on Tumblr… on Facebook… in porn websites.” - Jack and Alex LOLOL WHAT IS OVER CONFIDENCE GUYS?! =))

• “Dear Manila, will you count us in?” - Alex

Going to an ATL show is like going to a crazy party. HANDS DOWN BEST CONCERT EVER.

Derek Sanders. Mayday Parade live in Manila.

I’ve been a fan since early 2008 when the band was not yet famous here in the country (they’ve earned lots of fans ever since). I love all of their songs especially those mellow and very dramatic ones, with long sentences and a very complex story to boast along the lines. I remembered declaring “If I see them perform live, I can die happy.” And now they did. Only problem was, they’ve change a lot. Jayson Lancaster was not in the band anymore, and he was my favorite member due to the fact that he was the genius behind all of their awesome lyrics. But it’s ok, I learned to accept and still love the band. They are still awesome. 

Ok enough with the dramu, I now bring you the aftermath of the concert held last Thursday at Meralco Theater at Ortigas.

I LOVE THE VENUE! At first, I thought it’s kinda weird that this kind of concert will be held in this kind of venue… it look so… formal. I mean, this is rock and roll, not that hardcore, but still. Anyway, as I was saying, I love the venue! All of the band concert I’ve been to made us wait in line under the scorching heat of the sun for hours, but this, this is different, given that they held the concert inside a theater, an extravagant theater, we happily wait in their awesome lobby under the comfort of carpeted floors, a side exhibit and the glory of air conditioners, all hail Meralco Theater.

Anyway… as we enter the theater, we were surprised to see that there is another lobby in there, a booth for taking pictures and soft couches around for us to seat. how nice. :) But we decided not to stay there for too long so we enter the theater asap.

Yep, another thing that I love about this concert is that, because this was held in a theater, we have respective seats! No need to bump with sweaty people. We were seated at the “Platinum Area” just in front of the VIPs. Awesome. So near the stage.

The local band December Avenue was the Front for the main band. I honestly don’t know who they are, I hardly listen to any local bands. But hey, they are good! The vocals are so good I can listen to him all day! They sang 5 songs and I heard the people at my back counting down to each and very song they sang. They are so eager to watch Mayday!

The moment Mayday Parade enters the stage… people began standing up and everything went crazy! I mean i can’t hardly hear anything except the ringing of my ear. They are so loud, so yeah, a close space in this kind of concert seemed a bad idea because the sound are 10x louder than normal! Thank goodness the band started singing! WHOOO “Jamie All Over” for the win!

Anyway… Here are some of the pictures I took!

Here’s my thought in bullets:

• They are so energetic! SO LOUD! SO ROCKIN’!!! SO… HARDCORE. Which is kinda…

• Weird. I’ve known them to be so chill. Or maybe I judge them to be that, base on their songs, on their lyrics. I never expect this concert to be so crazy and loud. I’m guessing they’ve became so overwhelmed because of the hype of the crowd, I mean, the crowd was the one who is crazy and was very rabid… I’m guessing they just compliment the performance they gave on how the crowd welcomed them. The noise of the crowd is beyond noisy! It’s not good anymore! :(

• They sang all my favorite song, except for one. Miserable at Best. Well, that was expected, Jayson was not with them so I know that they can’t pull it off well live.

• I am so baffled on how energetic and wriggly Derek, Brooks and Alex is! They can’t be stayed in one place! They were dancing and running and all that head bang and hair whipping! YES THEY WHIP THEIR HAIR BACK AND FORTH ALL TIME!!! They only stop for a while. I can understand that the lead vocal must dominate the stage, but what baffles me is how the other two did the same! I don’t know if it’s good for a band to do that, but I feel uncomfortable looking at all of them. I use to watch rock bands that have this kind of system where in the other members don’t steal the spotlight from the lead vocals and it’s so cool to look at them. So chill and relax yet still rocking. But this… this is something else. O_o

• I expected more. I mean, I thought I was gonna cry because of my overwhelming emotions hearing them sing their heartfelt love songs. Because that is how people knew them, that is what they did best! The emotions from the song ringing through our ears… but… but NO!!! They are so loud! Derek voice is so loud! It seemed that he’s always shouting, and there are pause here and there to gasp for air! I cannot even. 

• Well, the good side is, they are good in terms of rocking the house! Their mellow and chill songs seemed a bit too fast. So guys who like hardcore stuff might have enjoyed the concert so much. ( i can’t still get over the fact that… dude! they are not the kind of band who is loud, but what the heck, they are loud in there!)

• They are my favorite band. Second is We the Kings. But now… it’s WE THE KINGS. Well Travis, is so sweet and full of audience participation… Derek, not so much. But I can see that he’s happy to be on stage performing for us which is still a good thing.

• They are not that good live. Sadly.

• I keep on comparing how good John O’s of The Maine, and Travis’ of We the kings’ voice live compared to Derek. I mean, if only Derek chilled a bit… his dancing and head banging drained the energy of his voice! It’s obvious that his voice are tired. 

WHEEEWW… I really tried my best not to complain or even not to point out the downside of the concert because I love them, they’ve become part of my life and I still enjoyed it, I really do. Everything is lively and full of energy which ironically is the point on why I am a bit disappointed, it’s lacking emotion and heart which what I expect to experience in this concert. I was just so glad I didn’t get a VIP ticket. 

Now… I’m hoping “Go Radio” will have a concert here in the country. Jayson Lancaster’s band. I know he won’t let me down. He’s the epitome of Mayday parade until he left…
