The cast of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Never been this excited for a movie (with the exception of the Harry Potter movies of course). This book/movie is about my life and I’m sure it’s about yours too.

And also, because… EZRA.

Before we even get to the film, I should say something: I adore Emma Watson. I think she’s a smart, sweet little lady, and she was one of the inspirations for my book, Very Classy, because I wish there were more girls like her in the world. Even with that out there, I can say that her performance as Sam in the film ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower,’ based on the best selling book by Stephen Chbosky, is going to ruffle a few feathers. One scene in particular, when her character and her slightly outcaste-ish friends put on a production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, has her wearing only a (conservative, mind you) bra. That alone is enough to get the Harry Potter boys in a tizzy. 

I saw the film at a small screening Emma put together when I was in LA last week. I hadn’t read the book and I didn’t know anything about the film, apart from the appearances of Watson, obviously, with Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller, both of whom I think are fabulous new faces in film. (Well, not that new to me. I’ll confess I did recently watch Lerman in ‘The Three Musketeers’ when there was nothing else to watch on a flight to Paris.) I had mistakenly thought the film was lighter fare, a newer version of a ‘Clueless’ or ‘Ten Things I Hate About You’ for the new generation. I was wrong. Two hours after the film started, I walked out with sloppy, puffy red eyeballs. 

Unlike, say, ‘Clueless’ and ‘Ten Things,’ which were set in idyllic California high schools full of rich, oddly attractive teenagers, this film takes place in a place not too dissimilar from where I grew up. And while I never had to deal with the sort of stuff Lerman, Watson and Miller do in the film (I don’t want to spoil it, but it’s some heavy stuff), I knew it was like to deal with bullies, fights, and boring hours in school libraries. Fun fact: I was in the high school marching band for three years. Not exactly a badge of cooldom, let me tell you. This is an honest, forthright story about a couple of kids, kids that I could have known when I was there age, coming of age and dealing with life, love and adolescence. There are some great comedic moments, many provided by Mae Whitman’s brilliant character, and moments of genuine pain. 

The film made me laugh, and yes, it made me cry. (Shut up!) I loved Lerman’s performance, and I was endeared by Miller for reasons that will become apparent when you see the film. And I just adore Emma. It was nice to see her doing something out of the realm of magic. She also does an American accent, which was weird for me to see at first. But not as weird as the aforementioned Rocky Horror scene. Which she looks beautiful in, by the way.

I know this movie won’t disappoint! It’s will be released (tentatively) on September 21 2012 and they haven’t release any trailer yet… Can’t wait for this movie!

OH!!! He gave us the assurance folks! And Emma with an American accent? Looks like she pulled that off so well. I’m proud.

Just gave us the trailer already! Please Please Please!!!!

Anyway, I should mention, I am so afraid that Ezra Miller will be on the mainstream once the movie is out. I just don’t want him to be. </3

Anyway… so excited for the movie Bling Ring as I enjoyed reading articles about the real Bling Ring before.

I’m walking down Hornby at Burrard right (this is downtown Vancouver), with a friend. WALKING. Like normal people do. And she stops and I turn to her and I’m looking at her and she’s just standing there like

& I’m like, “pshhhh, da fuc-” AND I LOOK ACROSS THE FUCKING STREET, to see PRACTICALLY A FOREST OF WHITE TRUCKS, just burrowed into ARTIGIANO. THAT’S MY FUCKING TERRITORY MAN, THAT IS MY FUCKING CAFE, I GO THERE, I FUCKING EAT PANINIS THERE. I GO THERE. 

This has happened to us TWICE now. FUCKING TWICE. When you see a jungle of white trucks in downtown Vancouver, THEY BE SHOOTIN’ A MOVIE!!! 

We fuckin booked it to the crosswalk to see what the fuck was happening like

They had blocked off a chunk of the sidewalk so we couldn’t go through, but we could still see cameras and people, and we stood with a lot of other spectators.

And then all of a sudden my friend is struck by some kind of momentous epiphany and is like

“…………………………….I KNOW WHAT THIS IS!! Percy Jackson! Percy, Percy and the- LOGAN LERMAN. LOGAN LERMAN IS HERE HE’S OMFGJHDKLHDJHAKL IT’S THE LOGAN LERMAN MOVIE HE IS IN IT THEY FILM HERE OMFG HE IS IN THERE JESUS FUCK THEY’RE FILMING HERE!!!!!!!”

 

me: WHO???!?!?!!!?

her: THE ONE, THE DUDE. THE GUY MAN THE….the guy!!! CHARLIE. The boy who plays Charlie in Perks that’s him.

me: HOLY SANTA CLAUS SHIT THAT GUY!!!…..oh my god….he..HE HAS KISSED THE LIPS OF EMMA WATSON, AND EZRA MILLER. WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT HIM, HIS SPIRIT STILL LINGERS THE ESSENCE OF THEM. It is as if Ezra and Emma were in my cafe where I eat paninis.

I seriously doubt I am sane. 

And Logan Lerman WAS there, and he came out and he was standing there drinking coffee.

And my friend and I are like

for completely different reasons.

I would have really liked to ask him if him and Ezra used tongue, I really really would have. Or something about the perks of being a wallflower, like when we’re gettin’ a trailer god damn it.

I should have threw my shoe at him or something to get his attention, I could have done it you know, I have very good perception for moving objects. I’d get taken down by security though, and that’s never fun.

This post made me smile so much. I laugh so hard. I just can’t handle everything that is written here. =))))))))))))))

Not really Perks news but since we are lacking in that department I thought I’d update with a picture of Emma at the Sons of an Illustrious Father concert last night in which her costar Ezra Miller is the drummer. It’s nice to see the cast supporting each other. (x)

Oh Emma, all of the awards for you. You’re such a good friend. Very supportive. I just love how she’s very connected to Daniel Radcliffe and Ezra Miller, my two crushes. Remember when she went to Dan’s play too? <3 <3 <3

Never been this jealous of Emma Watson. I envy her so much. First, Dan, and now Ezra? Girl, you’re the luckiest person in the whole damn world. 

and Ezra, you are so adorable. I love you so much it hurts.

I’ve been so busy this past few days. Did some xmas shopping last Saturday but still not done yet ‘coz up to this day I still don’t have any gifts for my family, relatives and friends. ARGH! I’ll probably rush to the mall on the morning of 24th since I still got to work ‘till the 22nd, and on the 23rd, it’s our department’s christmas party (the company xmas party’s done, last dec. 3).

I can’t believe how busy this month is, ok, so it’s normally a busy month (but merrier), but compared to last year… this December is just so effin’ hectic. There are traffic everywhere, people rushing to the mall etc.

Anyway… so yeah, Lauren, our company owner’s daughter discovered that I was a potter-freak and love Dan and Emma so much and she was like “Oh I always saw them” and I was like “you what?” *stoned* and she answered “They’re everywhere in new york, come’on”. (she often goes there, I think they have a house there?) “and one time we watched his play How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying… Dan was on top of this ladder, about to come down, and people was like looking up to him, waiting, and then he burst out singing and I was like… owwkkaaayyy. But yeah, the play was pretty good.” I got super excited at this point, I mean, I would kill to be in her place!!! ARGH!!! What got me really excited was the play she saw was the one where Emma attended. I was super jealouuuussss. She also said that she saw emma at a premiere of a movie (which is not HP, and she’s not in it), because she has some connection with the director’s son or something, ‘can’t really remember, I think I got a nosebleed at this point ‘coz she talks in english so fast with a canadian accent. LOL plus the fact that she saw Emma and Dan many times like it was nothing I JUST CAN’T!!! PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU NEXT TIME. *infinity cries* (She saw a lot of Hollywood celebrities too, like Eddie Murphie, she says he’s crazy ‘coz she always saw him talking to himself, well, probably memorizing his lines, but she likes to think he’s crazy. lol Another thing, her cousin’s neighbor is the Olsen twins, whuuuttt)

Interviewer: I know that off screen you all are good buddies, you Rupert and Emma and she was just here the other day, I guess it was yesterday and she told us about the ping pong matches that you all have. She said you’re not, well you’re not the best, apparently she’s better

Dan: No she was the best last year and the point is I’ve been playing loads this year and I’m better than her, I’ve practiced, I’ve worked for this
